Full Journal pdf2016-04-01 House Journal Page 2014 HB 275 The following was read the second time: 2016-04-01 House Journal Page 2015 HOUSE BILL NO. 275 "An Act establishing the second Monday of October of each year as Indigenous Peoples Day." with the: Journal Page STA RPT CS(STA) NT 7DP 1903 FN1: ZERO(ADM) 1903 FN2: ZERO(LEG) 1903 Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that the following committee substitute be adopted in lieu of the original bill: CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 275(STA) "An Act establishing Indigenous Peoples Day." There being no objection, it was so ordered. Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Foster: Page 1, line 1, following "Act" (title amendment): Insert "establishing Katie John Day; and" Page 1, following line 2: Insert a new bill section to read: "* Section 1. AS 44.12is amended by adding a new section to read: Sec. 44.12.063. Katie John Day. Katie John Day is established on May 31 of each year to honor Athabaskan elder Katie John for her fight for subsistence rights and her teaching of the traditional way of life. Katie John Day may be observed by suitable observances and exercises by civic groups and the public." Page 1, line 3: Delete "Section 1" Insert "Sec. 2" Representative Foster moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. There being no objection, it was so ordered, and the new title follows: 2016-04-01 House Journal Page 2016 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 275(STA) am "An Act establishing Katie John Day; and establishing Indigenous Peoples Day." Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that CSHB 275(STA) am be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage. There being no objection, it was so ordered. CSHB 275(STA) am was read the third time. The question being: "Shall CSHB 275(STA) am pass the House?"
